Defined in terms of a best practice benchmark in this area, these targets are the result of extensive thought across the entire Group over the course of 2010. Approved by the Executive Committee, they have been incorporated into management information statistics. Changes will be monitored by a steering committee, chaired by a member of the Executive Committee and made up of representatives of the entities and their operational representatives. This structure is also charged with setting up necessary action plans to achieve those targets.
All of the Group’s entities and various departments (Human Resources, Senior Management) are directly involved in this initiative, which follows actions implemented by the Group in 2008, to promote the professional development of women. Accordingly, GDF SUEZ has a women's network (Women in Net-working) which currently has 500 members in four countries and a mentoring program. Launched in 2010 in France, it is set to be rolled out internationally.
The Group has also adopted an innovative and ambitious parenting policy, increasing the places available in its company daycare programs and creating a website dedicated to parenting. Lastly, it has entered into partnerships with a number of agencies that are very involved in promoting gender equality in the workplace, including the Women’s Forum and the “Prix HEC Trajectoires au Féminin” (women’s career awards).
In February 2010, GDF SUEZ Energy Services signed a partnership with the “Elles bougent” association ("Women getting going"). Created four years ago, this French association aims to encourage students and pupils to focus on studies and technical vocations that have rarely included women. Its industrial partners in this initiative include Alstom, SNCF, Bosch, Dassault, Thalès, Renault and Safran, alongside a large number of top engineering and business schools. The association organizes regular events to allow girls to talk to women engineers and technicians who are making their careers in large industrial groups and to find out about the jobs they do.
As part of its Diversity Plan, SUEZ Environnement has signed an agreement with the Morocco “Launchpad” association [Espace Point de Départ (ESPOD)] whose objective is to promote women in business. In partnership with ESPOD, GDF SUEZ will be running the GEDES [Social, Gender and Economic Rights] project in Greater Casablanca aimed at facilitating access to jobs for women, their integration into new economic structures, and making them more aware of their economic and social rights.
