Since 2003, GDF SUEZ has been a major partner in the Paris Marathon and has assisted 40,000 participants in their efforts. The runners include over 600 Group employees from all over Europe who participate in this major race each year.
This event is unique in France and has become increasingly popular. GDF SUEZ makes a major contribution, offering many services and events for runners and spectators, including the highly praised SMS service that allows all the runners to share their progress with friends and family.
For 18 years, the GDF SUEZ Group, through its COFELY subsidiary, has maintained its commitment to society and solidarity through the partnership established with the French Judo Federation.
COFELY sponsors the Paris Ile-de-France tournament, the largest competition in the world, which attracts over 600 athletes from 50 countries to Bercy every year.
GDF SUEZ is a partner of the French Federation of Kitesurfing, supporting the sport through its 100% renewable AlpEnergie product. The ultimate complete sport, kitesurfing teaches respect and develops performance and cooperation, values treasured by the Group.

Aware of the riches of France’s hiking resources (180,000 km of trails), GDF SUEZ has worked closely with the French Federation of Hiking since 1992 to protect trails and encourage hiking activities. The Group has also created in 2008 the “Rando
Eole Generation, a GDF SUEZ subsidiary, develops and produces electricity from wind power, combining performance and expertise. Established in Lorient in 2006, the company, which develops wind farms and generates renewable electricity, has backed the young skipper Sébastien Rogues for the 2010 season, which will take him to the Charente Maritime-Bahia Transat 6.50.
GrDF has decided to cooperate with the French Federation of Cycle Touring (FFCT) in supporting bicycle touring activities throughout France (Vélo-route, VTT). This partnership is based on the values of safety, quality, solidarity, camaraderie, enjoyment, and health.
A partnership was established in 2006 between GDF SUEZ and the Belgian Paralympic Committee through the Group’s Belgian subsidiary Electrabel. Electrabel’s support gives young athletes the change to complete training programs and participate in major international competitions such as the Olympic Games.
