For nearly 20 years, GDF SUEZ has been committed to strong, lasting sports partnerships. The Group sponsors sports that are popular and respectful of the environment, with strong international growth potential, such as soccer and women’s tennis. In its role as a responsible corporate citizen, the Group works to develop the sports that it sponsors and encourage community events.

From local events to major international competitions, the sports partnerships of GDF SUEZ are founded on continuing support and serve the sport at all levels: professional athletes, young talent, and the public.
The Group adheres to four guiding principles in its sports partnerships:
GDF SUEZ has positioned itself as a major player in sponsored sports by supporting sports organizations. The French Federations of Tennis (since 1992), Hiking (since 1992) and Soccer (since 2006) have all enjoyed the support of GDF SUEZ. Through its subsidiaries, the Group also supports the French federations for judo, triathlons, and hang-gliding.
GDF SUEZ plays a pivotal role in creating and/or promoting international, national and local events. These events have a dual function: they allow French athletes to play in public eye and offer audiences quality sports events.
From their first matches to the winners’ podiums, even during difficult periods, GDF SUEZ assists athletes at every stage of their careers. In order to support these athletes and allow them to focus on their sports without worries, GDF SUEZ has created a team that includes both the brightest stars of women’s tennis and sports, as well as the stars of the future.
Through its gas and electricity businesses, energy services, water and waste businesses, the Group has roots in urban and rural communities. As a local player, GDF SUEZ contributes to community sports activities by implementing its sponsorship strategy at the regional level. The Group has developed over 200 sports partnerships throughout France, as well as abroad. Through these commitments, the company provides support to professional and amateur athletes on their home ground.
GDF SUEZ includes a social integration and/or environmental preservation component in its partnerships, demonstrating its commitment to social and environmental issues. GDF SUEZ, together with its subsidiaries, is particularly committed to programs that promote the process of social integration through sports.
