Energy Europe


The Energy Europe business line is responsible for activities involving energy management, distribution of natural gas, electricity production, and energy sales for all segments in continental Europe. Created on January 1, 2012 this business line enables the Group to strengthen its position in Europe.

Greater integration of the Group’s activities in Europe

 


The Energy Europe business line manages GDF SUEZ activities across Continental Europe for:

  • electricity production,
  • energy management: supply, trading and portfolio management,
  • gas/electricity marketing & sales.

 

The business line is also responsible for gas distribution in Portugal, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia, including gas storage in the latter two countries.

Energy Europe business line’s energy mix

 

242919modif.jpgThe Energy Europe business line owns and operates electricity production assets that generate:

 

  • thermal power: conventional, cogeneration and combined-cycle production plants,
  • wind power: an established player in onshore wind farms, it has its sights set on developing offshore capacity,
  • hydro power: hydroelectricity dams and power plants,
  • solar power: photovoltaic production and fabrication of photovoltaic cells,
  • nuclear power: the business line has 1,908 MW drawing rights and operates 7 nuclear reactors.

 

 

GDF SUEZ, a benchmark player in electricity and gas in France and Belgium  
Energy Europe has a strong foothold in France. A leader in the gas market, the business line produces and markets energy and services in France. On the french private market, the business line counts 9,6 million gas supply contracts.
In Belgium, it has nearly 3.5 million residential, business and industrial customers. It is one of the leading employers in the country and a top investor pumping nearly €500 million every year into maintaining and modernizing its power plants.

The business line’s marketing & sales activities include marketing gas, electricity and related services to customers:

 

  • B2C (“Business to Consumer”): individuals and businesses,
  • B2B (“Business to Business”): companies and local authorities,
  • Key Accounts large national or European industrial customers (and local distributors).

 

 

Energy Management & Trading

 

The Energy Europe business line manages one of the largest and most diversified energy portfolios in Europe.

Its activities include:

 

  • negotiating and optimizing natural gas supply contracts,
  • optimizing electricity production assets,
  • supplying gas and electricity to customers.
