The Corporate Foundation of the GDF SUEZ Group was launched in September 2010. Chaired by Gérard Mestrallet, it draws on 20 years of action carried out by the Gaz de France Foundation and the SUEZ Foundation, and represents the social, societal, and environmental commitment of the
Social responsibility, environment, and employee commitment – the identity of the Foundation
The philosophy and action of the GDF SUEZ Foundation stem from the social, societal and environmental commitment of the Group, which is one of the world's foremost players in the energy sector. When it was created in September 2010, it chose two large areas of action in keeping with the businesses and values of
Social responsibility and the environment – at the heart of the action of the GDF SUEZ Foundation
With regard to social responsibility, the GDF SUEZ Foundation supports initiatives for at-risk populations through two programs:
- "Enfance et Jeunesse” (Childhood and Youth), which works in the areas of healthcare and education, and
- “Energies Solidaires" (Socially responsible Energy), the goal of which is to improve access to energy for people in need.
With regard to the environmental aspeect of its commitment, the Foundation also conducts two programs that complement and mirror each other:
"Biodiversité & Climat" (Biodiversity & Climate), addresses questions of biodiversity, protection of ecosystems and combating global warming,- "Habiter Demain" (Living Tomorrow), primarily devoted to the major issues of sustainable architecture and urbanization.
These programs are active in all countries where the Group is present.
Encouraging employee involvement
The founding of the GDF SUEZ Corporate Foundation also demonstrates the Group’s drive for encouraging employee involvement, by supporting:
- Employee associations working on humanitarian initiatives (e.g. Energy Assistance and Codegaz),
- Projects conducted by employees via calls for projects.
In this way, the Foundation aims to mobilize and put all this energy into practice so that everyone – employees and business partners alike – has the energy to take action in the face of the social, societal and environmental challenges of our century.

If you want to advance the cause that you are defending and if your project corresponds to the programs of the Foundation, you can submit your proposal to us. You need to submit an application for support to the Foundation, with a detailed description of your project and presenting the managing organization.
