Corporate sponsorship policy

GDF SUEZ, as a committed, socially responsible corporate player, takes an active part in the development of countries where the Group is based. It provides support to non-profit organizations and to other parties involved in general interest initiatives.

Solidarity, the Environment, and commitment on the part of our employees are at the core of the Group’s sponsorship policy

The GDF SUEZ sponsorship policy is an example of its social responsibility and demonstrates its values. Bridging the corporate world and its public stakeholders, it marks the Group’s concrete involvement in urban life and its commitment as a socially responsible citizen. It follows a long tradition inherited from Gaz de France and Suez, particularly through the initiatives taken by their respective foundations set up in 1992.

In countries where the Group is present, its sponsorship policy is implemented through:

  • Social and environmental solidarity initiatives of its Foundation, "Energie pour Agir" (Energy to Act)
  • Local partnerships characterized by being firmly rooted in the local community in environment, solidarity, and sport,
  • Initiatives aimed at involving employees as partners through skill-based sponsorship, involving volunteers in partnerships supported by the Group, and humanitarian projects initiated by employee associations.

The sponsorship actions and partnerships developed outside the Foundation are primarily a response to the concerns of subsidiaries that seek to become fully integrated in their environment. They are then managed by the Communication Department and assessed by a Sponsorship and Partnership Committee. They must meet the criteria of the sponsorship and partnership charter, and must be one-time, non-renewable, initiatives. They are subject to an evaluation.

The Foundation is a response to employees who very much expect the company to take action on social and environmental issues. It is a first major step towards making the many civic-minded initiatives that now exist in the GDF SUEZ Group clearer and more visible. It is also a way of infusing life into the GDF SUEZ brand.

The Group’s partnerships focus on two major themes:

  • Solidarity (combating exclusion, helping young entrepreneurs and micro-entrepreneurs, providing access to culture for everyone),
  • The environment (protection, recycling and making the public more aware in general) and sustainable development.

The Group also takes care to make employees partners in this effort so that it is easier for them to be involved and personally committed.
